About HIWS1 drill pipe: HIWS1 is Hunting's original top-performing HDD drill pipe, one-piece forged from I-145 alloy, then heat-treated, machined and inspected. It has a steep-tapered, deep-stabbing, fast-pitch connection for quick make-up and breakout, a double-shouldered design for torque capacity, internal and external upsets for strength, shot-blasted connections for better thread-compound adhesion, and pin and box protectors. The lined version adds an internal liner.
